Drewery Lane, Melbourne
36 Residential Apartments
Melbourne Prize - Commendation in 1997

WJFA was commissioned in 1996 to undertake the restoration and refit of 36 New Apartments in a disused former 8 level Tabacco Warehouse. The building built in 1896 was the first reinforced concrete building in the Southern Hemisphere. The HBC listed building was in poor condition and had been uninhabited for many years. A new slab was inserted into the large ceiling height of the ground floor to enable two levels of car parking and an additional level added to the top of the building.

The Design won the Melbourne Prize - Commendation in 1997
